Your senior pictures should look like the best version of you – not a uniform. Deciding what to wear for senior pictures is honestly half the fun, and after photographing seniors all over Tampa Bay, here’s my playbook for outfits that stand out for all the right reasons.

Plan Two or Three Outfits

Most of my senior sessions include multiple looks: one casual-everyday, one dressed-up, and one wildcard that’s 100% your personality – the letterman jacket, the vintage band tee, the dress you’ve been saving. Each outfit gets its own feel and often its own backdrop.

Match the Outfit to the Location

Soft, breezy pieces shine at the beach – flowy dresses, linen, neutrals that glow at sunset light. Downtown and the mural spots around Tampa can handle bolder choices: denim, leather, richer colors, sneakers you love. If we’re combining beach and city in one session, we’ll plan a look for each.

Colors and Patterns

Solids and subtle patterns keep the focus on your face. Earthy tones and soft pastels photograph beautifully in Florida light; head-to-toe neon and giant graphics tend to steal the show. If bold color is your personality, we’ll make it work intentionally.

Fit and Comfort Beat Trends

Wear things you’ve already worn and love – you’ll move naturally and it shows. Ultra-trendy pieces can date your photos within a year; classic fits with one or two current touches age much better.

For the Guys

A fitted tee plus an open button-down, chinos or dark jeans, and clean shoes is a can’t-miss formula. Bring a second layer (jacket, flannel, hoodie you actually wear) for instant variety.

The Finishing Touches

Book hair appointments a few days before, not the day of. Bring your accessories – hats, jewelry, your car, your dog, your instrument, your jersey. The props that mean something to you make the gallery yours.
